Student Engagement

Engagement is a complex construct that has been applied to various contexts. In this post, my focus is student/ learner engagement, which has been defined as the “amount of time and effort students put into their studies and other educationally purposeful activities” (National Survey of Student Engagement, 2014, 2019). For an educator, then, to teach in an engaging way implies that they devise and strategize to help students reach that state of investment in educational activities. This qualitative state has some apparent indicators.
