My living room has a story to share. Once you know it, you can unlock the door. It’s so beautiful out there!
This is an example of a virtual educational escape room using Google Slides and Forms. Look for clues by click the active parts of the main page. Once you have gathered all the clues, click the lock and open the door!
Audience and Assumptions
This escape room is geared towards English language learners' development of basic reading skills. My assumption is that my students "can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance."
Objective
Students Will Be Able To (SWBAT) review past and present tenses and some everyday vocabulary items.
If you're interested in making your own Google Slides escape room, here is a great tutorial video!
Based loosely on the commercial version of escape rooms, an EER is a team-based, face-to-face and/or virtual experience in which participants interact with disciplinary content to solve puzzles in order to accomplish a specific learning goal within a time limit (check out Lesley Speller’s article on learning with escape rooms to learn more). Also, Jen Elbek's article on using SeekBeak as a digital educational tool for engaging students in online, emergency, and traditional teaching is a very interesting read.
